MPD Construction Group are delighted to announce that we have been chosen by
SCS Railways to install 32 kilometres of concrete walkway through NTE and NTW –
HS2 London Tunnels.
A world first innovation – MPD’s “Bridge-Form” is the result of extensive
collaboration with our partners and friends at Kerns Tunneltechnik. This groundbreaking dynamic Formwork system is fully automated and hydraulically operated.
It ensures safe, predictable, high performing outcomes every time. This best in sector solution will see MPD deliver and install over 60,000 cubic metres of concrete 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Bridge-Form – MPD Construction Group
At MPD Construction Group, our extensive experience in concrete works within tunnel environments has enabled us to develop highly effective plant solutions for concrete supply and placement. Our specialised purposed made fleet of bespoke hydraulically operated formwork engineered to navigate confined tunnel bores efficiently. With a unique configuration and lockable steering axles, these wagons can safely pass one another at raised passing points, ensuring continuous and reliable delivery from the batching plant to the workface.
Concrete Placement
We align our concrete placement operations with the pace of construction to maximise productivity without compromising quality. Concrete is placed directly into position, then expertly compacted and finished to meet specification. Our team adapts placement, compaction, and finishing techniques as needed, always prioritising the safety, health, and comfort of our operatives within the confined tunnel environment.
Construction Trials
A critical component of MPD’s success in tunnel Bridge-Form construction is our commitment to thorough preparation. We routinely carry out full-scale construction trials using surface-based dummy tunnels. These trials replicate real site conditions and utilise the same plant and techniques planned for the tunnel, allowing us to refine our methods, identify challenges early, and ensure seamless execution once underground work begins.
